About the Role The Misdiagnosis Association and Research Institute (MARI) is the first and only global non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to researching misdiagnosis, malpractice, treatment errors, and systemic healthcare failures—collectively referred to as Mismedicine. We are seeking motivated Research Assistant Volunteers to join our interdisciplinary team. This is a remote opportunity ideal for students and early-career professionals interested in gaining research, writing, and publication experience within a global academic network. Key Responsibilities Conducting literature reviews and summarizing key findings. Writing or co-authoring articles and book chapters related to healthcare errors, patient safety, and disease management. Assisting with scientific paper submissions for journals and conferences. Supporting abstract and presentation preparation. In addition to general research tasks, volunteers may also have the opportunity to participate in branch‑specific projects aligned with their field of study or professional goals. These include specialized areas such as: Law and Ethics – exploring malpractice, liability, and patient rights. Medicine and Clinical Research – studying misdiagnosis, treatment errors, and clinical safety. Robotics and Technology – analyzing automation and AI integration in healthcare systems. Mental Health – examining psychological impacts of medical errors and clinician well‑being. Pharmacology – researching medication safety, dosing errors, and prescription systems. Public Health, Nutrition, and Environmental Health – addressing systemic and community‑level influences on healthcare outcomes. Time Commitment 2–3 hours per week (remote and flexible). Workload may vary based on project timelines, meetings, and conference deadlines. Training & Support All volunteers receive access to MARI’s training modules and task‑specific guides. Ongoing mentorship from supervisors to develop academic writing and research skills. Guidance on publication ethics, referencing, and submission processes. Qualifications Open to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, as well as professionals. Strong written communication, organization, and research skills. Interest in healthcare, patient safety, or interdisciplinary research. Ability to meet deadlines and work independently. Benefits Hands‑on experience with research, academic writing, and publication. Opportunity to contribute to peer‑reviewed journal articles, medical books, and conference abstracts. Mentorship from experienced supervisors and researchers.
